Freshwater lakes are a crucial component of the urban ecology and offer several direct indirect advantages to its people. Habitat degradation native insects has happened because development activities unscientific natural resource management. As consequence, many freshwater now rare endangered. A research was conducted find out abundance, variety distribution aquatic insect fauna in an lake, Hatirjheel, Dhaka during November 2015 February 2016. total 3255 individuals water comprising 11 species 31 genera under 20 families belonging 5 orders were recorded. The order Hemiptera contained highest abundance (38.71%) including 7 12 containing species, while Trichoptera had lowest (6.45%) 2 genera. dominating lake Micronecta haliploides. maximum 19 reported lake's vegetation-rich section near Mouchak-Moghbazar flyover (Spot 1), whereas minimum found Modhubagh bridge road 2).
